Nope, it’s not a sauna, although it has the same hot, relaxing, calming properties. A steam shower will produce hot, moist steam as opposed to the much hotter and dry heat that you get in a shower.

Depending on how big your bathroom is, you may want to talk to your bathroom design team about retrofitting your existing shower and turning it into a steam shower. Requirements for a steam shower

Of course, the main components of a steam shower or steam bath is that the unit is sealed and airtight. Remember, you’re dealing with steam.

Speaking of steam, you’ll need a steam generator, and you’ll need access to your home’s water and electrical supply, which means you’ll have to get an electrician and a plumber to make sure everything is hooked up safely.
